About Huck Finn Adventure Travel

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

Because of our commitment to responsible travel, Huck Finn continually strives to ensure that the tourism brought to these areas benefits the local communities. By participating in any one of our trips you will bring much needed work and income to the people who are still recovering from the war-torn years as this was an area severely affected by war. Even buying local products will support this country’s economy and help Croatia to stand on her feet again!

Above all, we aim to minimise the environmental impact of all our activities. We do not bargain for lower prices or commissions for the business we bring, travel agencies and tour operators usually do. We have our own kayaks, canoes, rafts, guides, vehicles and know-how so we earn our share by providing the best service we can by using our own resources.

Huck Finn offers new perspectives to travellers by providing more authentic holidays that allow a true experience of destinations and Croatia’s culture while contributing to well being and preserving those areas.

Huck Finn team & guides

Each Huck Finn team member is an expert in a variety of different fields, ranging from aeronautics, nutrition, computers & communications, marketing and ecology, but we are united by our passion towards nature and the outdoors. Our team at Huck Finn shares a great mix of backgrounds; from long time white water rowers to rafting instructors and national team members, hikers and trekkers, rock climbers and skiing lovers. Experienced in travelling, mastering the local knowledge and highly educated, we will help you discover the natural beauty, local culture and history of the place.

We choose our guides based on their ability for responsible planning, preparation and organisation of activity. Once the trip begins, they are in charge of the health and safety of all trip participants, complete supervision of staff and making sure everyone has fun!

As good communication is essential to appreciate the experience, we offer you English, German, French and Spanish speakers; however, all the knowledge and experience in the world are sometimes not enough. Excellent people skills, patience and a talent for sharing local knowledge and an insight into Croatian life and culture is common to them, for this is the life of an adventure tour leader.

We travelled and explored the natural beauties of our land just like our childhood hero, Mark Twain’s great rafter and canoeist, Huckleberry Finn did. We let the river flow, the winds and the hidden paths take us into the unknown.  Our motto is: See them as they are, leave them as they were”.

Gorana Bajčetić

Gorana Bajcetic

Gorana started working for Huck Finn in 2008 after obtaining a degree in environmental studies. It was supposed to be a summer job to take some time to think about her future career in the ecology branch. But Gorana fell in love with adventure travel, Huck Finn, and the people that make our small community so special - and never left. Gorana speaks English and French fluently, as well as Spanish. She enjoys all outdoor activities, but hiking is her favourite. As a product manager at Huck Finn she is responsible for the organisation of several one-day and multi-day trips (mostly in continental Croatia) and also finds time to guide a few groups every season to get away from the office.
