Huck Finn team & guides
Each Huck Finn team member is an expert in a variety of different fields, ranging from aeronautics, nutrition, computers & communications, art history, marketing and ecology to languages, PR and geography, but we are united by our passion towards nature and the outdoors. Our team at Huck Finn shares a great mix of backgrounds; from long time white water rowers to rafting instructors and national team members, hikers and trekkers, rock climbers and skiing lovers. Experienced in travelling, mastering the local knowledge and highly educated, we will help you discover the natural beauty, local culture and history of the place.
We choose our guides based on their ability for responsible planning, preparation and organisation of activity. Once the trip begins, they are in charge of the health and safety of all trip participants, complete supervision of staff and making sure everyone has fun!
As good communication is essential to appreciate the experience, we offer you English, German, French and Spanish speakers; however, all the knowledge and experience in the world are sometimes not enough. Excellent people skills, patience and a talent for sharing local knowledge and an insight into Croatian life and culture is common to them, for this is the life of an adventure tour leader.
We travelled and explored the natural beauties of our land just like our childhood hero, Mark Twain’s great rafter and canoeist, Huckleberry Finn did. We let the river flow, the winds and the hidden paths take us into the unknown. Our motto is: “See them as they are, leave them as they were”.
Zeljko is the owner and general manager of Huck Finn. When he built his first canoe in the late seventies, he named it after his childhood hero – Huckleberry Finn. Twenty years on, his first canoe transformed into his own business – Huck Finn. Zeljko was one of the first persons to explore Croatia's beautiful rivers in a kayak, canoe and raft and start running organized outdoor trips in our country. He lead Team Croatia to the Camel White Water Challenge competitions on the Zambezi (Zimbabwe, 1996 and 1997), Pacuare (Costa Rica, 1998) and Orange rivers (South Africa, 1999) and is one of the founders of the International Rafting Federation. Today he spends most of his time on the Huck Finn catamaran guiding our sailing trips.
Roberto Pincevic - Robi
Robi is studying at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. A true sports enthusiast, Robi enjoys European football (soccer), rafting, kayaking, biking, rock climbing, sailing, diving, swimming… anything with a ball that takes him outside. He guides Huck Finn's multisport trips and is a certified Zagreb and Dubrovnik city guide. He also enjoys music, singing and playing piano and guitar.
Vanja has a degree in Art History and English Language and Literature. She worked as a sea kayaking guide from 2005 to 2008 before dedicating to teaching English for several years. Having explored Europe and the Americas and deciding it was time for another change of career, she rejoined the Huck Finn team full time in 2011 and is now discovering the hidden beauties of Croatia. Vanja used to compete in ice skating at an international level. Today she balances her interest in art, skating and tango with the newly found passion for everything outdoors – especially rock climbing and sailing.
Micha became a river guide when he was 18 and has been guiding river and multisport trips ever since. Apart from kayaking and rafting, he enjoys trekking in the mountains of Croatia and South America.
Goran is from Peljesac, a beautiful peninsula in the south of our country, famous for its exquisite nature, hidden beaches and coves, salt farms and some of the most delicious oysters and wine you will find in Croatia. He has a degree in Management in Tourism from the University of Dubrovnik. Cycling is his passion and he spends every free moment riding his bike and exploring cycling routes on Peljesac. He's been a member of the Huck Finn team since 2012, mostly guiding our Sea Kayaking Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Islands Multisport and Village by the Sea trips. During the off season he spends his time taking care of his olive groves and vineyards.
Ana has a degree in Geography from the University of Zagreb and joined the Huck Finn team in summer 2013. She is a certified Zagreb city guide and speaks English, Spanish and German. As a true geographer she loves to travel and does so whenever she gets the chance. She used to train ice skating for years and now she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking and her new passion is rock climbing.
Nika joined us in April of 2013, after getting her degree in Public Relations and working in Tourism and Event planning industries for couple of years. She's a Dubrovnik local and works as a Product Manager in our Dubrovnik Office. Bitten by the travel bug, she spent some time living in the USA, and has traveled around Europe, Asia and Africa. As she strongly believes that being active and traveling in quest for lifetime experiences are the essence of a good life, joining Huck Finn world of adventures came naturally.
Filip, a former ski competitor, current ski instructor, outdoor guide, scuba diver, rock climber, farmer… Enjoys sports such as cycling, rafting, kayaking, sailing, squash, table tennis, jiu jitsu and handball. He has a degree in Economics, but that was never the option for his career because his “office“ had to be in the nature. He has traveled just tiny part of the universe so far, and believes that every journey changed him in a good way. For someone who only likes people who love nature, Huck Finn was the only choice.
After graduation from a math and science oriented high school in Zagreb, Mikey joined the Special Forces where he spent several years as paratrooper. Having left the army, he turned to adventure and outdoor activities as a commercial diver, diving instructor, speleologist, triathlon competitor, mountain cyclist, nature lover, mountaineer, gardener and yoga practitioner…. until the Way lead him to Huck Finn where he became member of our team as equipment maintainer and tour guide.
Bruno joined the Huck Finn team in March 2014. He graduated from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality management in Opatija. While he spends most of the time in the office as an Account manager, his biggest passion is cycling so whenever possible he works as a cycling guide and he loves it! He has cycled in Albania, Turkey, Montenegro, Greece, Egypt and Jordan, but still finds Croatia the most beautiful cycling destination.
