A well-paced cycling tour in the countryside of continental Croatia will show you the real country lifestyle and experience it much more closely than from a vehicle. The unspoiled woods and river landscapes of Karlovac area (1 hour from Zagreb) provide a wonderful setting for relaxing and refreshing activities. The river with numerous travertine waterfalls is warm and pleasant for swimming in summer. CANCELLATIONS
In the unlikely case of extreme weather conditions Huck Finn Adventure Travel will re-schedule the activity for a day or two prior or after the date booked, if possible. If the change is not possible, the payments will be refunded in full.
All client's cancellations must be in writing - by email or fax.
Cancellation charges per person (percentage of total price):
- 8 or more days prior to arrival 0%
- 2-7 days prior to arrival 50%
- 1 day prior to arrival or no show 100%
Program & Gear List
We will meet in Zvecaj village by the Zeleni kut restaurant at 10 am. You will have time for a coffee on the terrace overlooking the waterfalls of Mreznica River and have a short break. After providing you with the equipment and giving you short safety instructions, we start the excursion. Cycling, swimming in the river, relaxing and enjoying the scenery are a part of this trip. The Mreznica is home to many threatened and protected plant and animal species that you may get the chance to observe. These include 4 species of birds from the „red list“ of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature – the Golden Eagle, the Lesser Spotted Eagle, the Western Capercaillie and the Great White Egret. The trip ends in Zvecaj by the Zeleni kut restaurant, where you can have lunch, relax by the river, swimm, play beach volley or rent canoes and continue exploring the Mreznica.
Equipment: Quality road touring bicycles and helmets are provided for your safety.
Things to bring with you: shorts, T-shirt and sport shoes, sun cream, water.Optional picnic, but we can also organise lunch for you on request.
Huck Finn is not responsible for the loss or damage of your personal items.
PROGRAM
10.00 Arrival in Zvecaj by the Zeleni kut restaurant. Meet your guide and have a short coffee break.
10.30 Instructions and safety briefing.
11.00 Start of the cycling.
15.00 End of the trip.
Note: This itinerary is subject to change dependent on group abilities and preferences, weather and special events. Huck Finn guides and trip Leaders will do their utmost to ensure the best possible experience for their clients without compromising safety at any time. This may mean changing the original itinerary to avoid discomfort or risk which could be caused by exceptional heat or cold, stormy weather, heavy traffic or other reasons beyond our control.

How to get there
From Rijeka direction:
Take the highway Rijeka-Delnice-Bosiljevo. Exit at Bosiljevo and turn left. Take the local road from Bosiljevo to Generalski stol. In Generalski stol turn left towards Duga Resa and Karlovac. Zvecaj village is situated 10 km before Duga Resa. On the right side of the road in Zvecaj you will see a big sign Zeleni kut restaurant – our meeting point.
- Own transport: if you are driving, we recommend leaving Rijeka at least 1h30 before.
- Public transport: there are direct trains from Rijeka to Zvecaj. When you arrive at Zvecaj train station, turn right. A 20 min walk will take you to Zeleni kut hotel/restaurant. If previously arranged, our guides can pick you up at Zvecaj train station. The approximate price of the train ticket Rijeka-Zvecaj is 10 Euros one way. You can also take the bus to Karlovac, and then the train to Zvecaj.
From Zagreb direction:
Take the highway Zagreb-Karlovac. Exit in Karlovac. Drive to Duga Resa and take the road towards Senj and Jospidol. Approximately 10 km after Duga Resa you will arrive in Zvecaj village. On the left side of the road you will see a big sign Zeleni kut restaurant – our meeting point.
- Own transport: if you are driving, we recommend leaving Zagreb at least 1h before.
- Public transport: there are direct trains from Zagreb to Zvecaj. When you arrive at Zvecaj train station, turn right. A 20 min walk will take you to Zeleni kut hotel/restaurant. If previously arranged, our guides can pick you up at Zvecaj train station. The approximate price of the train ticket Zagreb-Zvecaj is 6 Euros one way.
