Rovinj

Rovinj is one of the most romantic and picturesque old towns in Croatia and one of the most 'photogenic' towns in the Mediterranean. The old town on the Istrian penninsula is a masterpiece of urban art and architecture but its surroundings are nevetheless masterpieces of nature: the islands of Rovinj archipelago, Lim Bay, Punta Corrente Forrest, Palud bird reserve, Saline and Fantasy Quary. Rovinj was built on an island close to the coast, that was connected with the mainland in 1763 by filling in the channel. The spirit of some ancient times in the labyrinth made of stone, through the narrow streets of the old town, takes us deeply back to the mystic and mysterious Middle Ages.

The main Church of St. Euphemia keeps relics of the saint and presents one of the most beautiful Baroque achievements in Istria. From the church plateau there is a wonderful view of the open sea and numerous islets in the distance. A visit to the Rovinj Town Museum and the town’s many galleries will complete your cultural experience. Rovinj is not far from the airports and harbors of Pula, Rijeka, Trieste and Venice.

Rovinj is is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the culture, the history and the mediterranean way of life: a cup of coffee in the morning sun, siesta in the shade by the sea, a glass of wine at sunset, a fish on grill, a chat in the pub, a song in the street.T his is the area of Teran (red) and Malvazija (white) wines as well as gourmet seafood and other specialties including the famous Istrian pasta, truffles and olive oil.
