Dubrovnik Islands Walking
Huck Finn 8 days/7 nights trip
There are many beautiful places in the world, however, the people of Dubrovnik claim their city to be the most beautiful.
The warm, southern climate, the spacious blue sky, the emerald green and dark blue crystal clear sea depths touching the rocky shore and spilling into numerous coves and bays, onto sandy beaches and steep reefs decorated with the lushest Mediterranean and subtropical flora.Under the mild Mediterranean climate, Dubrovnik is bathed in a sea of sun, blossoms and ripe fruits of the orange and lemon trees even in the winter months.
This holiday is designed for those who wish to explore the most beautiful places of the Dubrovnik area in Croatia by walking / hiking.
The city of Dubrovnik is situated in the very south of the Republic of Croatia. It is a work of human inspiration, true in harmony and form. This fortress town was founded in the first half of the 7th century and now holds a spot on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Apart from a great history, Dubrovnik is well known for the beautiful nature that surrounds it. Lopud, Kolocep and Sipan belong to the Elaphiti Islands archipelago – 13 green islands covered by pine forests, free of traffic, with lots of sunshine and sandy beaches, and under an hour's sailing time from Dubrovnik. They are not just places of incredible natural beauty, but also open air museums of history, art, architecture and folklore.

Day 2 - Sun: Dubrovnik town and Srd mountain
Visit Dubrovnik, the most beautiful of all Mediterranean towns, for sightseeing through its ancient streets and walking along city walls. Join the Sapro family in their famous 400 years old mill for a home-cooked meal made with ingredients from their own garden. Our lovely host Kreso in the mill will introduce us to how olive oil was produced by our ancestors.
This will offer the group a unique experience of Konavle region with its ancestral traditions. Evening will be spent in a charming historical town Cavtat with its well known promenade.

Day 4 - Tue: Kolocep Island Walking
Visit Kolocep Island, extremely interesting for its dramatic scenery with hidden dark caves, high cliffs and colorful reefs. Walk through Gornje Celo and Donje Celo, well preserved romantic Mediterranean villages, and along high cliffs. Many remnants of old architecture have been preserved, and are dispersed throughout the island (an old pre-Romantic chapel, ruins of the basilica, summer homes, guard tower and more). A pleasant noon siesta will take place in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere of Gornje Celo turquoise bay, near one of the best fish restaurants in the area.
Accommodation: Mare and Filip villa in Zaton Bay.
Walking: 3.5 hours

Day 5 – Wed: Leisure day
Beach day. You are free to do whatever you enjoy the most. Sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, walking, sea kayaking. Or take the ferry to Mljet National Park. The northern part of the island is covered with a dense, green forest. Mljet island National Park has two beautiful salt water lakes, one with a 14 century monastery on a tiny island. We will explore them on foot and in kayaks or on bicycles, enjoy a swim in the warm waters of the lakes and hike.
Note: This is the last day of the holiday if you booked the 5-day option.
Day 6 - Thu: Lopud Island Walking / Hiking
Lopud is an island with lots of sunshine, sandy beaches and palm trees, free of traffic. The only town has no more than a couple of hundred permanent residents, old houses of beautiful architecture and abundance of flowers everywhere which contribute to an easy going lifestyle. The island produces its own seafood, vegetables, fruit and even tropical fruit like lemons, oranges and kiwis.
The sandy beach of Sunj Bay on Lopud's southern side is the most popular beach of the Dubrovnik area. However this island's true treasure are its tiny churches and a fort strategically located at its highest point. In the past it served as an observation point and was used to protect the island's safety. Today it offers stunning views of the Elaphiti Archipelago and Mljet island.
Accommodation: Mare and Filip villa in Zaton Bay.
Walking: 4 hours
Meals: B, D
Day 7 - Fri: Sipan Island Walking
This day is dedicated to the largest of the Elaphiti Islands – Sipan. Colorful villages of Sudjuradj and Luka Sipanska and the fields between them have preserved the real country lifestyle, chapels, monasteries, palaces and summer houses of ancient Dubrovnik aristocracy. This island is unbelievably rich in cultural heritage, tales from the past and well preserved monuments that witnessed its turbulent history. We will explore them by walking / hiking and there will be plenty of time to relax on beaches or in cafes.
Accommodation: Mare and Filip villa in Zaton Bay.
Walking: 4-5 hours
Meals: B, D
Day 8 - Sat: Departure – Dubrovnik airport
Depart from Dubrovnik for the airport and flight home. You are welcome to schedule your homeward transport for any time. If you decide to spend more time in Croatia, our guides will be happy to recommend other beautiful places to visit - especially those you won't find in tourist guide books.
