Our season is May to September in most areas. We start operating select trips and tours in April and continue until October. May is usually warm enough for swimming in the south of the country (Dubrovnik). Croatia gets busy in July and August during school holidays. September tends to be warm and sunny and the crowds are usually gone by then.
After booking the trip you will receive a document with plenty of useful information about your holiday, including a gear list.
We run our trips in several different parts of Croatia and the closest airports from where transfers are included are listed in the Trip notes section for each multiday holiday.
We offer double, twin, single and triple rooms. A double is a room with one bed for two persons. A twin is a room with two separate beds. In Croatia, it is normal in some accommodations (especially in small hotels and homestays/guesthouses) to consider two twin beds pushed together a double bed.
All our trips have been designed with a degree of flexibility when it comes to activities. On most days it is possible to do an easier version of the activity and also to extend it and make it more demanding for our guests with prior paddling experience.
Yes, we can prepare most special meals (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free) with prior notice. In certain areas vegan, gluten free etc. snacks in local shops will be limited so we recommend bringing your own. Also note that we cannot guarantee gluten free food will be prepared in a 100% gluten free environment. We do ask to keep your requests realistic as in some of the areas where we run our trips it is very difficult to prepare special meals.
Yes, we often have solo travellers on our trips. We’ll be happy to recommend a departure that would suit you best in terms of who is already booked.
You are welcome to sign up as a single traveller willing to share a room, but you have to be ready to pay the single supplement. In case we receive another enquiry for the same date, we will pair you up. In case there are no other single willing to share bookings you will be required to pay the single supplement.
Bookings are done by email. We require 50% deposit at time of booking to secure your spots and the balance is due 30 days before the trip starts.
It is possible to pay online by credit card or by bank transfer. Please let us know your preferred payment method and we will send you the details.
We have deposit insurance and we are a member of the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies. In addition to that, we have other compulsory insurance policies for tour operators, including liability and personal accident insurance for our guests. We strongly recommend purchasing additional travel insurance before the trip.
Our terms and conditions can be found here.
Unfortunately poor weather is always a possibility, but we run most of our trips from May to September when chances of bad weather are minimal. We operate our trips with safety as our top priority. Rain itself is not a reason to cancel a trip or grant refunds. If necessary, alternative activities will be arranged. The itineraries are subject to change depending on group abilities and preferences, weather conditions, water levels, force majeure or similar. For client’s safety and comfort reasons Huck Finn reserves the right to alternate program without prior notice.
The official currency in Croatia is the Euro. We recommend changing money into Euros or getting them at an ATM when you arrive.
Major credit cards are widely accepted in Croatia, but our trips are based in small areas where cash is usually the only payment option. Once the trip has started, there will occasionally be a chance to get Euros at an ATM, but we recommend getting some as soon as you land.
This varies and you will receive a document with plenty of useful information about your trip, including these details, after you book. If this is a concern, feel free to ask your booking agent while discussing trip details before booking.
Your guide will propose several optional trips on the spot depending on weather conditions and water levels.
